Training Curriculum

The training series teaches students how to make an impact investment in an early stage social enterprise and prepare them for the MIINT competition. The series contains several 2-3 hour intensive workshops, developed in collaboration with Sloan Finance Department and the Sustainability Initiative. Industry guest speakers will also be invited to have the practitioners’ perspective and insights.

 

Key training topics include:

  • Overview on impact investing: direct investment in VC/PE, Public market investing with positive and negative screens etc.
  • Key steps of making an impact investment: defining your investment thesis, sourcing social ventures, conducting due diligence, financial modeling / returns analysis, defining deal terms, writing an investment memo, and presenting to the investment committee
  • Career in impact investing: What are the possible career paths and skills needed to succeed
