Impact investing is the investment in organizations with the goal of achieving positive, measurable social or environmental impact alongside financial returns.

These types of investments span across asset classes and sectors, including financial services, education, agriculture, the environment, and healthcare. Impact investments can be made in both emerging and developed markets, and target a range of returns from below market to market rate, depending upon the circumstances.

We believe that channeling the use of private capital for impact will be critical for tackling the world’s most pressing social problems. The MIT Impact Investing Initiative aims to provide students with the skills and experience necessary to become the next generation of impact investing leaders.
