Our History

MI3 was created in 2015 by MIT Sloan students who wanted to be a part of the exciting emerging discussion around impact investing. We believe the innovative use of private capital can be a powerful source of social change.

In 2016 our first year, we won the grand prize at the MBA International Impact Investing Network and Training (MIINT) competition held at the Wharton in the Spring, beating out 25 other top business schools and winning $50K for the social enterprise we pitched. The 2017 team were finalists at the Global competition and nominated for both Best Due Dilligence and Best Impact.

Mi3 has also collaborated with the finance faculty at MIT to develop a class offered in the spring semester, 15.499 Social Impact Investing taught by Prof. Gita Rao.

Today, the MIT Impact Investing Initiative aims to provide students with the skills and experience necessary to become the next generation of impact investing leaders.
